CoMA London Ensemble, Gregory Rose:conductor, Darragh Morgan:solo violin. Michael Nyman: ’In C Interlude’, Mark Bowden: ’When the Sun Begins to Fling’, Joe Cutler: ’Macedonia’, Philip Venables: ’Dutch Courage’, Jonathan Harvey: ’Climbing Frame’, Dave Smith: ’Whiskies of Islay, Stephen Montague: ’Chorale for the Cauldrons of Hell’. Come and join the CoMA ensemble for a day rehearsing music by Stephen Montague and Michael Nyman. Montague’s ’Chorale for the Cauldrons of Hell’ was inspired by a visit the composer made to the Nazi concentration camp, Auschwitz. He became trapped in the camp and was forced to spend a night alone there, and the Chorale was inspired by this deeply unsettling experience. Michael Nyman’s ’In C Interlude’, by contrast, is a showstopper, and a pulsing, energetic hit with performers and audiences alike. Instrumentalists and singers of all ages and abilities are welcome. If you can’t join in, come and hear the ensemble perform an exciting programme of music composed especially for the group.
